Duties
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, mental status examinations, and behavioral observations using advanced EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
- Administer medications safely, including injections and IV infusions, following aseptic techniques and HIPAA regulations to ensure patient safety and confidentiality.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans that address behavioral health needs, medication management, and crisis intervention strategies.
- Monitor patients for acute pain management, agitation, or suicidal ideation; respond promptly with appropriate interventions and triage protocols.
- Provide patient education on treatment options, medication adherence, and coping strategies tailored for diverse populations including geriatrics, pediatrics, and individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia care needs.
- Assist with discharge planning, case management, and coordination of long-term care services such as assisted living or home & community care.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation of patient encounters, assessments, treatments, and progress notes in compliance with NCQA standards and ICD coding requirements.
Skills
- Proven experience working with EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner; familiarity with ICD-10/ICD-9 coding is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, mental health assessment techniques, and diagnostic evaluation methods.
- Expertise in medication administration including injections, IV insertion, tube feeding management, and ventilator care when applicable.
- Critical care experience in settings such as ICU or trauma centers enhances your ability to manage complex cases involving acute psychiatric emergencies or trauma medicine.
- Skilled in patient assessment across diverse populations—pediatrics to geriatrics—and adept at working with people with disabilities or developmental challenges.
- Knowledge of infection control practices and aseptic technique ensures safe clinical procedures.
- Excellent communication skills for effective patient teaching on topics like pain management, hospice & palliative medicine, or substance use disorders.
- Ability to perform physical examinations and vital sign monitoring accurately while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
- Experience in medical documentation standards including CPT coding for billing purposes; familiarity with laboratory experience is a plus.
- Demonstrated capability in triage procedures within urgent care or emergency room environments; familiarity with trauma medicine or Level I/II trauma center protocols is advantageous.
