What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operator D position at Cameron LNG LLC?

Primary Purpose:

The role of the Operator “D” is to perform routine designated tasks in a learning and development mode at the Cameron LNG terminal facility to develop proficiency in all operations functions so as to be certified as an Operator “D” within the minimum required experience period of 9 months. The Operator “D” will report to the Operations Supervisor.

This position will be located in Hackberry, Louisiana. Employees’ primary residence must be located within a one-hour drive from the Hackberry plant site. This measure will assure that response time for callouts is kept to a minimum, which increases the safety of our employees in an unexpected or emergent situation.

Transportation Worker Identification Credentials (TWIC) is required.

Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Observes and then, under close supervision, monitors assigned plant operations and records data from control meters, gauges and recording chart readings. Reports malfunctions and unusual trends or conditions to supervisor. When sufficient ability acquired, may make minor corrections and report the action taken.
  • Actively works towards developing proficiency in acquired skills and works to successfully complete Operator “C” Job Skill Level.
  • Under close supervision initially, and then with more independence, performs routine operations on equipment such as inspection, start-up, shut-down, on his/her shift.
  • As assigned, cleans sludge, grit, grease, rust from equipment, valves, unloading arms, etc. using tools such as high pressure washers, water hoses and brushes.
  • Performs all work in accordance with sound safety practices and uses appropriate safety devices and equipment.
  • Collects raw water, in-process finished water and effluent samples for in-house and outside analysis. Under close supervision, prepares samples and conduct laboratory tests, such as pH, chlorine and turbidity, in accordance with established procedures. Maintains appropriate records.
  • Learns the duties of the Emergency Response team and participates in the Emergency Response Actions on his/her shift in an emergency event. May be required in emergency situations to report to work during unscheduled times.
  • Must be able to work scheduled and unscheduled overtime; share on-call duties.

Qualifications:


Education:

  • Process Technology degree and/or an equivalent combination of education and 1 years of experience in industrial operations.
  • Must have a good basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic theory and application and be able to learn to use manuals and other resources to apply that knowledge in operations and other diverse requirements of the job.
  • HSE knowledge.


Experience:

  • Experience in industrial type setting preferred.

  • Good computer skills.
  • Possesses strong communication, interpersonal, work ethic and technical skills.
  • Able to work in a strong team environment.
  • Self-starter with ability to work strategically with minimal direction.
  • Driven to meet and exceed performance parameters.
  • Strong knowledge of the various operating modes of the facility.
  • Strong attention to details.
  • Able to navigate through HMI displays on various types of equipment.
  • Able to train others.
  • Capacity for sustained attention to functioning machinery and equipment. Good sensory perception to monitor plan machinery and operations visually, audibly, by smell and by touch on an ongoing basis.
  • Able to remain calm and effective in emergencies.
  • Able to work with a culturally diverse group of technical individuals whose skills cover the range required to engineer, operate and maintain the LNG receiving terminal.
  • Possesses the personality and ability to relate to and to establish a mutually respectful relationship with 1) management, 2) peers and 3) the various facility level workers (Plant Manager, plant supervision, and plant workers) whom are all responsible for ensuring good operations.

Physical Requirements:

  • The incumbent is expected to perform duties that involve standing, walking, climbing, sitting, kneeling, twisting, bending, pulling, pushing, carrying, lifting, reaching overhead and driving. Most activities involve movement of either the upper and lower body extremities or both and the joints associated with these areas of the body.
  • Must be able to enter confined spaces, tanks or vessels.
  • Must be able to climb, using stairs and ladders, to heights approximately 200 feet.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to don various types of safety and personal protective equipment to perform required work in potentially hazardous areas, such as confined space and working at heights.
  • This position requires accurate color perception and the ability to meet the minimum hearing requirements for the position.
  • Must be willing to be on call, work overtime as required and handle emergency response responsibilities.
  • Must be able and willing to travel for various trainings and/or meetings as required.
  • When outdoors, this classification is exposed to extremes of heat, cold, loud noise and dust.

DOT Requirements:

The U.S Department of Transportation (DOT) and the company have adopted regulations governing the control of drug use by persons in certain job classifications. This position is subject to the Federal Pipelines Regulation; and is stipulated in the 49 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) part 40 that requires drug and alcohol testing and must meet the testing standards.
