Position:
To establish the methods for how parts will be fabricated and provide the details, processes, tooling, fixtures, testing, packaging, outside services, time, & schedule required for production to follow during fabrication of the parts/project.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review and complete all job ticket packages in a timely manner (within 48 hours or as appropriate).
- Review customer PO’s & compare to the quote & job info sheet or the pre-written job ticket to check for specific fabrication instructions, exceptions, specifications, delivery methods, delivery location, project due date, price, etc…
- Work with Customer Sales Rep to communicate and resolve any discrepancies with the PO or to request deviations based on alternate methods of fabrication, tolerances, materials, finishes, etc…
- Work with the Estimator to understand quoted price and processes and look to verify the time, material, methods, etc… required.
- As considered necessary, work with production and seek out and establish new methods that will reduce cost & lead time, while maintaining or improving the overall quality of the fabricated parts & assemblies. (i.e. adding slots & tabs, etching locations, adding bends to reduce weld seams, etc..). Must have design changes verified with customer.
- Produce work instructions &/or make notes on the drawings, or add drawings or sketches, to assist fabrication (noting tight tolerances, symmetry, features, specific process instructions, etc…).
- Create shop drawings/sketches for moderate engineering tasks or projects (i.e. reverse engineering simple parts to create shop drawings).
- Work with manufacturing to design tooling & fixtures to assist in fabrication (Supervisor input is required).
- Work with purchasing to verify or establish pricing & lead times for raw material, commercial components, specialty hardware, etc.
- Work with the sub-contract coordinator to obtain pricing & lead times from sub-contractors for machining, laser cutting, etc.
- Work with production scheduling to finalize start and comp dates and location for fabrication.
- Work with the shipping and receiving manager to establish shipping methods, packaging materials (i.e. crates, skids, special packaging), & coordinating freight.
- Work with QC to establish and verify inspection requirements, methods, & documentation (i.e. FAI paperwork, dimensional tolerance reports, weld procedures, etc…).
- Answer supervisor questions in regards to how a job ticket is written or how parts were quoted or planned for manufacture.
- Help the estimating department develop estimates/quotes for build-to-print opportunities
- Perform various other duties and activities as required by manager within the physical constraints of the job.
Salary : $43,000 - $54,500
