DEPARTMENT: Orthopedic Clinic
JOB TITLE: Supervisor – Orthopedics
SHIFT: 80 Hours Bi-Weekly, Primarily 1st shift
BENEFITS: This is a full time, benefit eligible position.
Summary/Objective
Provides guidance and oversight to clinic staff by implementing department policy and procedures in general nursing activities associated with patient care.
Essential Functions
- Exemplifies good customer service.
- Demonstrates competence in Orthopedic clinical duties. Assists clinic staff by carrying out direct patient care in the clinic, when needed.
- Reviews errors in EPIC with clinical staff with remedial training as required to assure accurate documentation/ charging .
- Manages clinical employee schedule to ensure adequate staffing levels are planned consistent with FTE guidelines. Is proficient in Paylocity and Smartlinx.
- Assures annual staff competencies/licensures/certifications are relevant and kept up to date. Coordinates appropriate education with staff to assure they are updated on processes, supplies, and equipment.
- Orients new clinical employees following Cameron Hospital on-boarding protocols.
- Assists with interviewing and hiring of clinical employees, counsels and evaluates employees regarding job performance, conduct and other related matters.
- Assures clinical policies and procedures are current. Reviews with manager and revise as needed.
- Assists manager with coordinating clinic meetings. Leads daily morning huddle and works with manager to address issues and concerns.
- Aligns clinic, staff, and personal goals with Cameron’s Mission, Vision, and strategic plan. Ensures process improvement by identifying KPI, establishing plan for improvement, and working with staff to achieve desired outcomes. Maintains dashboard for quality review.
- Attends and actively participates in hospital-based meetings, as assigned.
- Carries out all duties in a manner consistent with Cameron’s guiding principles and values and according to Cameron’s policies and procedures.
- Collaborates and communicates regularly with clinic and surgery staff to facilitate orthopedic surgery scheduling.
- Assists with coordination between orthopedic sales representatives and the surgical staff to ensure adequate and necessary equipment, instruments and supplies are ordered and available for surgical procedures
- Assists with orthopedic education for the patient, family, community and staff utilizing multiple teaching methods. Assists with teaching the “Joint Journey Program.
- Monitors Orthopedic quality outcomes and facilitates process improvement as needed.
Qualifications
Experience
- 2 years Orthopedic Clinic experience preferred.
Skills/Competencies
- Effective interpersonal, communication and team working skills required.
- Critical thinking, conflict resolution, organization and effective judgement abilities also required.
Education Required
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- OR graduate of other healthcare related program
Licenses Requirements
- Current Nursing License in the state of Indiana preferred but not required
- Applicable licensing for ATC, OTC, PT, OT, LPN, or CMA
Certifications Required or Preferred
- ACLS preferred
- BLS or ability to obtain within one month of hire
