What are the responsibilities and job description for the Chief Financial Officer position at Camino Search?
Camino Search has partnered with a dynamic, private equity-backed technology services group headquartered in New York. The company operates in a high-growth, M&A driven nature and has scaled to over $100 million in revenue. As they continue toward their next phase of expansion, they are seeking a strategically-minded Chief Financial Officer with effective exit experience. The company has fantastic sponsors supporting this project and the business itself is a highly collaborative and efficient environment.
Key Responsibilities: • Lead all aspects of financial strategy, planning & analysis (FP&A), and accounting, ensuring accurate, timely, and strategic financial guidance to the CEO, board, and investors. • Drive operational efficiency through streamlined processes, system improvements, and data-driven decision-making. • Partner closely with executive leadership to guide the company’s long-term financial roadmap, including M&A execution, debt structuring, and capital planning. • Act as a key interface with lenders, auditors, and external advisors. Lead negotiations and due diligence across M&A and financing activities. • Build and scale a high-performing finance function, instilling rigor and accountability across FP&A, accounting, and compliance. • Develop and articulate clear, concise narratives around complex financial data for internal and external stakeholders.
Ideal Candidate:
• Proven CFO experience in founder-led or private equity-backed companies with revenues in the $100M–$500M range.
• Strong accounting background (CPA or equivalent preferred) with deep knowledge of complex revenue structures, preferably bookings-based rather than commission-based models.
• Strong academic pedigree, ideally U.S.-educated from a top-tier or Ivy League institution.
• Prior exposure to fast-scaling businesses in insurance roll-ups, VAR (value-added reseller), or MSP (managed services provider) environments.
• Demonstrated success in sell-side transactions, capital raises, debt facility structuring, and M&A execution (APA experience preferred).
• Ability to see the bigger picture and forecast accurately across 18–60 month horizons while managing financial risk and operational detail.
• Excellent communicator with high emotional intelligence, capable of inspiring trust and articulating a compelling financial vision.
• Collaborative leadership style with a hands-on approach and a passion for simplifying the complex.
• NYC-based or willing to relocate, with the ability to work in-office 3–4 days per week.
This is a unique opportunity for a commercially minded CFO to shape the financial future of a business with ambitious growth targets and complex operational demands. The role demands strategic acumen, technical excellence, and leadership maturity.
