What are the responsibilities and job description for the Program Intern position at Camp for All?
Description
From September 2024 to August 2025 the Program Intern will learn all aspects of camp leadership including working in all areas of camp with a primary focus on program. The Program Intern will shadow Program Supervisors and eventually be responsible to plan and implement at least one weekend by the end of their first season and one week of summer camp. They are expected to help create and maintain a professional environment where the Camp For All mission is carried out through high-quality programs.
List of Essential Duties
· Participates in staff orientation and training for Camp For All programs
· Obtains program certifications, including, but not limited to lifeguarding, challenge course, First Aid, CPR, etc.
· Collaborates with Program Supervisors to effectively communicate with User Groups
· Works with Program Supervisors in managing/supervising Program Staff
· Exhibits the ability to manage assigned program activities, including planning and adapting the activity to the campers’ needs
· Demonstrates the desire to learn, understand, and adapt to the needs of the individual camper
· Follows all safety standards set by Camp For All and the Program Manager in accordance with Texas Department of Health and American Camping Association
· Immediately corrects any safety infractions and/or reports such to supervisor
· Displays the ability and desire to work as a contributing team member with the program department and other departments at Camp For All.
· Manages free time in a responsible manner so as to be fully prepared for each user group
· Follows a variety of instructions, procedure manuals, and safety rules
· Maintains flexible work schedule with the ability to work extended hours as needed
Reports to
The Year Long Program Intern reports directly to the Program Manager
Benefits
Stipend of $500 per week worked. Workers’ Compensation coverage. Five paid days off per season, plus paid holidays. Shared professional staff housing is provided and maintained by Camp For All.
Requirements
Education/Experience Requirements
· Completion of at least one year at a college or university
· Must be at least 21 years of age
· Experience in leadership and/or volunteer roles
· Desire to work in camping or in a field of service related to those with special needs or challenging illnesses
