As a Maker Space instructor at Camp Young Judaea Sprout Lake, you will play a crucial role in creating a positive and engaging experience for campers by leading woodworking activities, helping bring our campers' dreams to life. Your responsibilities will include designing age-appropriate projects, providing instruction on woodworking techniques, ensuring camper safety, and fostering a creative and inclusive environment. Key Responsibilities
Program Planning and Implementation:
- Develop and plan woodworking activities suitable for different age groups and skill levels.
- Create a diverse range of woodworking projects that align with the camp's overall program.
Instruction and Demonstration:
- Provide clear and engaging instruction on woodworking techniques and safety protocols.
- Demonstrate proper tool usage and craftsmanship to campers.
- Foster a supportive and encouraging atmosphere to enhance campers' confidence and skills.
Safety and Supervision:
- Implement and enforce safety guidelines in the woodworking area.
- Monitor campers to ensure they use tools and equipment safely.
- Be prepared to respond to and manage any woodworking-related emergencies.
Equipment and Inventory Management:
- Maintain and organize the woodworking workshop, including tools and materials.
Report any equipment issues and coordinate with camp leadership for repairs or replacements.
Collaboration:
- Work collaboratively with other camp staff to integrate woodworking activities into the overall camp schedule.
- Attend staff meetings and training sessions to stay informed and contribute to the camp community.
Camper Engagement:
- Create a positive and inclusive environment that encourages camper participation and enthusiasm.
- Provide individualized attention to campers, fostering a sense of accomplishment and skill development.
Role Modeling:
- Serve as a positive role model for campers by embodying the camp's values and promoting a sense of community.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in woodworking instruction and project design.
Knowledge of woodworking tools and safety procedures.
- Ability to work well with children and create a supportive learning environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Enthusiasm for camping and a commitment to the mission and values of Camp Young Judaea Sprout Lake.
Job Type: Temporary
Pay: $3,500.00 - $4,000.00 per month
