JOB SUMMARY
The Activities Aide assists the Activities Director in planning, organizing, developing, and directing the overall operation of the Activities Department, following the current local, state, and federal guidelines and regulations that govern long-term care and assisted living facilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Demonstrate a passion for caring as evidenced by interaction with residents, families, co-workers, and visitors
- Assist in developing, maintaining, evaluating, and directing the developed activity programs
- Participate in community planning related to the interests of the facility and the needs of the residents and their families
- Coordinate activities with other departments as necessary
- Observe resident attendance, mood, behavior, and degree of involvement during activities and other events
- Involve residents and family in planning activities when necessary
- Assist in arranging transportation for activities when necessary
- Follow resident care plans to coordinate their preferences for daily activities
- Perform administrative requirements, such as completing necessary forms, reports, etc.
- Assist residents in a therapeutic one-on-one environment
- Serve on, participate in, and attend various committees of the facility as necessary
- Recommend to the Activity Director the equipment and supply needs of the activity department
- Coordinate with the Activity Director thoughts and suggestions on resident activities
- Coordinate with the volunteer group for planned activities
- Make routine visits to residents and perform assistance with crafts, projects, visiting with, writing letters, etc.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Activities Director or other administrative staff.
