JOB SUMMARY

Works under the supervision of the IT Infrastructure. Provides the highest level of technical expertise and support for Campbell County Health network and communication systems. Mentors and provides technical guidance to junior technicians. Assists in the development and follows all systems policies, procedures, standards, and support documentation requirements to ensure the highest-level of Information Technology Department services. Provides technical network design, administration, troubleshooting and continuous improvement activities. Ensures network redundancy of operations, security, and manages all internal and external network connectivity to ensure conformity to the continuity of operations and service requirements for the organization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Serves as a resource person for the daily operational issues of the hospital's network and communication systems. Constantly strives to provide the highest level of customer service.
  • Responsible for setting up and maintaining outside vendor VPN and remote access connections and ensuring best practice security methodology is maintained.
  • Oversees all firewall and WAN security, design, and configurations.
  • Develops and presents network/systems infrastructure design, implementation, and support plan(s) to the Manager IT Infrastructure to adopt best practices for network efficiency and minimize downtime while ensuring best practice security.
  • Communicates designs and strategies via whiteboard storytelling with team members and technical partners.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve security, data integrity, and streamline workflows.
  • Has final authority over and documents the network diagram and maintains documentation for the network architecture, VLANS, schema and configuration of network devices.
  • Proactively anticipates, via the monitoring plan, network and systems problems and provides resolution/ correction plan leadership through the appropriate Information Technology work team.
  • Works independently to gather requirements and translate those into solutions for the organization.
  • Takes ownership of key strategic projects and drives new opportunities/ solutions.
  • Develops positive working relationships with all departments/ managers/ staff physicians, and staff that utilize server-based systems.
  • Model accountability for learning by sharing knowledge and learning from others.
  • Demonstrates personal commitment to the principles, values and ethics of the organization and department while complying with the hospital’s corporate compliance program including, but not limited to, the Code of Conduct, laws and regulations, and hospital policies and procedures.
  • Must be free from governmental sanctions involving health care and/or financial practices.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education
    • A four-year degree is required, preferably with a technical emphasis
    • High level certifications may be used in lieu of college degree
  • License
    • None
  • Certifications
    • At least one industry certification is required within the first year in this role if not held previously.
    • Cisco Certified Networking Professional (CCNP) or higher-level Cisco certification required within 1 year of hire
  • Experience
    • At least five years of hands-on experience with core Cisco routing and switching technologies.
    • Experience with 9300 series preferred.
    • Prefer 2 years designing, architecting, implementing, upgrading, and configuring complex Cisco IPT solutions with Cisco Unified Call Manager (CUCM) clusters, Cisco Unity/Unity Connection Voicemail (CUC), Cisco IM & Presence (CIMP), and voice gateways.
    • At least five years of experience designing, architecting, and administering routers, switches, LAN/WAN, QoS, VLAN’s, bandwidth modeling and VoIP infrastructures.
    • At least three years of hands-on experience with stateful inspection firewalls and at least two years’ experience with a next-generation firewall platform.
    • Prefer SIP, H.323, and legacy voice protocol configure experience, and Cisco Emergency Responder (CER) experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • The ability to maintain continuing education requirements and all certifications and licenses as required (e.g. ACLS, PALS, CPI, CPR)
  • Able to communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical staff.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of security best practices in networking.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of industry compliance regulations – i.e., HIPAA, SOX, PCI, etc.
  • Ability to gather requirements and white board/present solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under minimal supervision, independently and/or as a member of a project team.
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and to prioritize workload under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and escalate technical issues when required to the appropriate vendor support team.
  • Demonstrated organizational, time-management, problem-solving and follow-up skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to oversee project work activities.
  • Provide technical leadership for networking team.
  • Able to deal with stressful working situations and to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting project timelines.
  • Excellent communication skills to work with a variety of staff, including executives, physicians, management, and frontline staff.
  • Strong PC skills working within an integrated clinical systems environment.
