About the Role: Cannon Construction is hiring a Safety Manager to champion a strong safety culture across powerline, fiber, and utility projects. If you're passionate about protecting people, driving compliance, and making an impact on essential infrastructure - we want to hear from you.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct jobsite safety inspections for powerline, underground, and communications work
- Lead toolbox talks, orientations, and safety trainings
- Develop and review Job Hazard and Activity Hazard Analyses (JHAs/AHAs)
- Monitor OSHA, DOT, and EM 385-1-1 compliance
- Investigate and document incidents and near misses
- Partner with project teams to drive safety improvements
- Document and communicate inspection findings through Microsoft Forms, Word, or Excel reports, and email distributions
- Serve as a safety resource during preconstruction planning, energization activities, and confined space or high-voltage work.
Qualifications:
- 3 years of construction safety experience (powerline, fiber, or utility preferred)
- Knowledge of OSHA 1910/1926 and EM 385-1-1
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel
Required Skills:
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
- Experienced in Teams or similar collaboration platforms for meetings, training, and document sharing
- Efficiently complete and submit reports through SharePoint, OneDrive, or comparable systems
- Comfortable working with digital inspection tools, cloud-based safety platforms, and mobile data collection apps such as SiteDocs, iAuditor, or Procore
- Strong written communication skills for clear, professional documentation and email correspondence
Preferred Skills:
- OSHA 30
- CHST/STS/CSP
- CPR/First Aid
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
Pay range and compensation package: Competitive pay based on experience, medical, dental, vision, FSA and supplemental insurance, 401(k) with company match, paid time off and holidays, certification and professional development support.
