Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Special Education Case Manager shall report to and is accountable to the Director of Support Services and Head of School. As a person integral to Caprock Academy’s team, they will maintain the integrity of, advocate for, and facilitate the implementation of Caprock Academy’s Vision, Mission, and Core Values.

  • Working with families and the Special Education team to schedule and manage IEP meetings
  • Working with all stakeholders in the development of student IEPs
  • Managing and monitoring IEP implementation for all students on the caseload
  • Compliance oversight
  • The case manager will maintain positive, supportive relationships with parents, students and the special education team.
  • The case manager will monitor and ensure compliance with all school, district and state regulations.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Familiarity with Federal, State and CSI guidelines for special education and 504
  • Expertise with a wide range of standardized and informal assessment procedures including progress monitoring tools
  • Expertise with research-based instructional programs and strategies
  • Knowledge of research-based academic and behavioral interventions
  • Ability to effectively communicate effectively in oral and written form
  • Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with team members

Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution with a valid state teaching license and highly qualified content knowledge.
  • Hold a Colorado Department of Education issued Special Education Generalist or Special Education Specialist license; or hold a Colorado Elementary Education teaching license and willing to enroll in an alternative teacher licensure program or an accredited Colorado university special education program.

Compensation

Starting salary $40,000 depending on experience and education. This is a full-time, exempt position.

Competitive benefits package includes health coverage (medical, dental, vision), and Colorado PERA Retirement participation.
