What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mine Operations Shift Supervisor / Dispatch position at Capstone Mining?

Field Supervision:
- Manage the Delta-C Performance Program for Haulage
- Onboard new employees and shepherd their promotion from MPT1 to MPT2
- Audit haul truck classroom and field training
- Sign-off trained operators and ensure 5000-23s are submitted properly
- Perform monthly performance evaluations and deliver feedback to MPT1s
- Promote MPT1s to MPT2s when appropriate
- Track and improve haulage performance
- Analyze haulage KPIs
- Manage the operator scorecard program
- Provide coaching and retraining for continuous productivity improvements
- Advise on operator culture and technical fit
- Advise when operators have mastered haul trucks and are approved for MEO training
- Onboard new employees and shepherd their promotion from MPT1 to MPT2
- Manage the haulage fleet and haul road network
- Ensure safe haulage conditions
- Responsible for responding to acute fatigue according to the Fatigue Monitoring Procedure
- Perform audits on and maintain all berming, illumination, signage, and other conditions
- Respond to, analyze, and report on Rapid Tire Deflation Events
- Ensure a safe, operable, and well-stocked fuel island
- Manage proactive haul road maintenance programs
- Analyze Road Condition Monitoring reports
- Confirm deficient haul road conditions and strategize maintenance efforts
- Communicate repair tasks with road maintenance crews
- Drive haulage efficiency
- Optimize loading cut and dump layouts
- Advise operators on optimal spotting patterns
- Strategize parking ditch locations for shift change
- Maintain the Mine Model in MineStar
- Coordinate daily with Mine Mobile Maintenance on hauling and support equipment needs and priorities
- Monitor dust condition and provide dust control resources when necessary
- Ensure safe haulage conditions
- Support Positive Relief shift change
- Manage Mine Operations LV transportation fleet:
- Track fleet availability; enter repair notifications; ensure sufficient coverage for shift change
- Perform mechanical inspections and fluid checks/top-offs on all LVs before shift change
- Develop shift change strategy
- Record all equipment locations and status; identify van and bus drivers for oncoming shift
- Meet with oncoming haulage supervisor to hand-off status and strategize next shift
- Assist with crew lineout
- Assign crew members to equipment for on-coming shift
- Ensure van and bus drivers are assigned strategically
- Communicate van and bus assignments to selected operators and ensure transportation LVs are inspected and ready for operators to board when finished with the line-out meeting
- Manage Mine Operations LV transportation fleet:
- Review Pre/Post Operation Inspection forms for all equipment on the prior shift daily and enter any required notifications
Dispatch Supervision:
- Responsible for managing communications in the mine
- Communicate clearly and secure open communications in the event of an emergency
- Manage the 2-way radio
- Ensure all equipment has radio communications
- Supervise radio communications; maintain professionalism and clarity; direct non-essential comms to alternate channels
- Relay communications between the various channels and departments operating in the mine
- Manage the mine phone
- Relay communications across PVM as required
- Record call-ins and relay the information according to any site tracking policy
- Collaborate with the mill and crusher operator to maximize productivity between the mine and the various downstream processes
- Monitor all automated mine safety systems
- Manage communications from the Fatigue Monitoring system
- Receive calls from our Fatigue Monitoring partner
- Perform text-based wellness checks on the operators and inform the Haulage Specialist of any alarms
- Track operator fatigue using the fatigue log and the stoplight tracker
- Monitor the geotechnical radars
- According to the Ground Control Management plan, respond to any geotechnical alarms according to the TARP
- Monitor machine health through the MineStar VIMS
- Manage communications from the Fatigue Monitoring system
- Manage crew productivity through the Fleet Management System
- Maximize safe and efficient production by providing timely and appropriate assignments to employees operating loading and haulage equipment according to the mine plan
- Ensure compliance to the grade and tonnage targets set by Mine Planning and Ore Control
- Responsible for the accurate tracking of time according to the Time Usage Model
- Maintain design GPS files and jobs for operators on applicable equipment
- Monitor the DCS system to optimize mine production
- Track equipment downs and communicate requirements with Mine Mobile Maintenance
- Ensure equipment is on time for Preventative Maintenance
- Collaborate with the Haulage Specialist
- Assign operators to equipment at the start of shift
- Optimize shift change
- Manage shift reporting
- Document shift events and performance on shifter reports and other locations as required
- Maintain logs for special event including pit dewatering, crack measuring, entry/exit logs, etc.
- Other duties as required, not limited to:
- Assist with in-shift operator equipment swaps
- Participate in Blast Clearance activities
- Train fill-in back-ups form the hourly crew
- Other duties as required
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Knowledge
- Highly developed communication and writing skills
- Leadership experience is highly regarded
- Equipment operating experience is highly regarded; CAT 789D, Liebherr T264, CAT 16M, CAT 834H
Key Competencies / Skills
- Ability to manage, influence, and work within a multi-disciplinary team
- Valid Arizona Driver’s License
- Ability to speak, comprehend, read, and write English
COMPUTER SOFTWARE SKILLS/ SPECIFIC SOFTWARE PROFICIENCIES:
- Knowledge of Computerized Management Systems and Mine Dispatch highly regarded
- CAT VIMS, SAP and MineStar knowledge as a plus.
- Intermediate computer skills; Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI, and Outlook
EDUCATION LEVEL / CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- High School Diploma or GED
