What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sleep Tech Assistant position at Cardiovascular Medicine PC?
Cardiovascular Medicine, PLLC is seeking a Sleep Tech Assistant for a new and exciting opportunity in the Ancillary Services department of our Moline office! This position offers advancement opportunities from assistant to Registered Sleep Tech after 1 year of employment and completion of RPSGT certification.
DUTIES
The Polysomnographic Tech Assistant is primarily responsible for assisting with obtaining interpretable recordings of patients' nervous system functions. Also, assists with functions pertaining to the treatment of sleep disorders, including patient assessment and operation of diagnostic equipment. This involves assisting with preparing the patient (adult, geriatric, and special needs), assisting with proper titration of CPAP/BiPAP, follows protocol for the titration of oxygen under the direction of registered sleep technologists. This is a nonexempt position. Reports directly to the Director of Ancillary Services
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Education and Experience: High School or equivalent required. Previous medical background preferred.
- Licenses, Registrations, and Certifications: Maintain current Respiratory Care license for Illinois if applicable. Registered Sleep Technician (RPSGT) is required. Current CPR by AHA
- Must enroll in ASTEP training program through American Academy of Sleep Medicine. Training program will be completed on own time. Must complete the 80 hour introductory course prior to starting position.
- After completing 1600 hours of on the job training and required training modules, staff member must sit for board certification within 3months. Training process should take no more than 1 year. After successful completion of training program, employee will be advanced to Registered Sleep Technologist position.
