What are the responsibilities and job description for the Product Owner position at Career Opportunities?
The Product Owner serves as a member of the team responsible for the implementation of our Insurance Analytics Platform (IAP) which helps enable Suite implementation. This position will drive the execution and delivery of all back-end data requirements for the IAP/suite project to ensure we are building an optimal experience for our internal users, insureds, and agency partners. This position will be part of a dedicated project team focused entirely building and replacing our financial back end.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participates in planning for the product vision, roadmaps, releases, etc.
- Maintain the team backlog content with input from other stakeholders (backlog refinement).
- Reviews and prioritizes the team backlog as part of the prep work for Sprint Planning.
- Communicates story details and priority to the team to ensure alignment on the final sprint plan.
- Manage dependencies across development teams to accomplish broader business objectives.
- Collaborates with the team to detail stories with acceptance criteria and examples of acceptance tests.
- Accountable to accept user stories upon completion and assures a level of quality with completed work.
- Works with the team to agree on accepted story completion and assures a level of quality.
- Responsible for engagement and collaboration with vendors with the assistance of the team Project Manager as dictated by the project scope.
- Understand the scope of enabler work and collaborate with architects/engineering to assist with decision-making and sequencing of these enablers.
- Collaborate with the team/stakeholders in the team demo. Responsible for producing the team demos.
QUALIFICATIONS:
ESSENTIAL:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, IS/Computer Science, or equivalent area of study.
- 3 years’ experience working as a Product Owner in Agile software development environments.
- Strong oral and written communication.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively, build a team, and foster positive relationships.
- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and maintain work quality.
- Basic understanding of data development/architecture
PREFERRED:
- Software development, requirements management, and collaboration tool(s) experience. (ADO, SharePoint, JIRA preferred)
- Product Owner Certifications such as PSPO, CSPO, POPM, etc.
- 1-2 years of experience in the P&C Insurance industry
- Experience with Duck Creek’s core product suite
