Job Description:
As a Ground Paramedic for CareFlite, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality advanced emergency care to patients transported by our Ground Division. This role requires a personal commitment to our mission and core values, as well as the ability to demonstrate those values in all activities performed for CareFlite or while representing us.
Primary Functions:
1. Safely operate the emergency vehicle according to federal, state, and local laws, as well as CareFlite Policies and Procedures.
2. Demonstrate working knowledge of medical and non-medical equipment on the ambulance.
3. Perform routine maintenance checks on assigned vehicles at the beginning of each shift, reporting and documenting any maintenance performed or required.
Responsibilities:
• Assist flight crew in loading and unloading patients for helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft, adhering to aviation safety requirements.
• Ensure CareFlite is perceived positively by customers through professional and courteous interactions.
• Communicate effectively with patients, family members, and medical personnel, keeping them informed about transport details.
• Accommodate family members while prioritizing patient safety and well-being.
• Provide accurate information to the CareFlite Communication Center for mission initiation, tracking, and closure.
• Meet special medical and comfort needs of patients to ensure a positive transport experience.
• Participate in non-emergency and emergency patient care according to CareFlite Clinical Practice Guidelines.
• Complete clinical assessments, report patient conditions, and record services rendered.
• Maintain assigned vehicles stocked and cleaned according to CareFlite policies and procedures.
Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience Required:
• Must be 18 years old or older.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Current State of Texas certification as an Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification.
• Basic Life Support Certification.
• PHTLS Certificate (obtained within 6 weeks of hire).
• PALS Certificate (obtained within 6 weeks of hire).
• Dallas City Ambulance Attendant Driver permit.
• Texas Class C driver's license.
• Effective Verbal/Written English communication skills.
• 2 years' experience in Emergency Medical Services preferred.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
• Ability to make decisions with moderate impact on the immediate work unit.
• Ability to understand, remember, and apply oral and/or written instructions.
• Must be able to see and speak with customers, observe equipment operation.
• Occasionally perform tasks while standing and walking up to 100% of the time.
• Examine and assess skin and other abnormalities through sight, touch, and smell.
• Reach, bend, kneel, and have high-level manual dexterity.
• Frequently lift and carry up to 25 pounds or more.
• Fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
• Ability to coordinate activities closely with others in stressful situations.
