Careington is looking to add Mid to Senior level QA Tester to join our exciting and rewarding work environment where success is achieved through teamwork and collaboration. This person will be responsible for all activities associated with the creation of test plans and test cases, as well as the execution of the test cases across both hardware and software initiatives across projects and maintenance. In addition, the QA Tester will be responsible for documenting and updating defects found during testing. This position will work closely with various groups to create and execute QA plans that will validate requirements and deliverables for all defined products. This position will be responsible for managing all active projects and software releases.
You will be required to work onsite within our corporate office in Frisco, TX, 3 days per week, 2 days from home.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop and enhance departmental best practices, procedures, and available tools and technologies
- Create test strategies for all project initiatives within the development area
- Ensure acceptance criteria provided within each user story is reviewed and test cases are documented adhering to the criteria
- Develop and execute software test plans and test cases
- Work with offshore team to carry out Agile sprint QA activities
- Adoption of automated test tools like Selenium and scripts to maintain regression test suite for each application
- Manual testing currently, moving towards automation. Ideal candidates will be those that have up to 60% within automation
- Produce detailed reporting of test execution and defect rates within bug tracking tools
- Demonstrate effective leadership skills in inspiring, driving and executing results through others
- Communicate effectively across all levels of the organization and create a sense of urgency and inspire a commitment to excellence
- Continually strive to improve processes and procedures for areas of responsibility
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong fundamental testing capabilities
- Ability to communicate effectively at all organizational levels
- Understanding of requirements-based testing and software development life cycles
- Knowledge of both manual and automated QA methods and processes
- Knowledge of SQL to query database joining multiple tables
- Ability to manage phased testing (unit, integration, regression, acceptance, etc.)
- Ability to read, understand and communicate technical documentation
- Be a self-starter, a highly motivated person able to work in a fast paced environment that is continually changing.
Education, Experience and Software:
- A completed college degree is preferred
- 7-10 years of experience working with software QA testing
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products (Excel for reports) Azure Devops – entering of bugs within; Jira use as well. Tools to track defects.
