POSITION TITLE:  Board Certified Director of Medical Services       
REPORTS TO:  Chief Medical Officer                 
CLASSIFICATION:  Exempt
 
POSITION SUMMARY:  The Board Certified Director of Medical Services oversees the activities of staff physicians, nurse practitioners, Podiatrists, Optometrist, and Chiropractor, including assisting in the recruiting processes.
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The following information defines essential functions but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned. The Board Certified Director of Medical Services may be reassigned duties and responsibilities at any time due to reasonable accommodation or other staffing reasons. 
 
  • Provides oversight of delivery of medical care by clinical staff through direct supervision serves as a mentor and manages the resolution of practice-related problems
  • Works with the Chief Medical Officer to promote provider compliance for the attainment of productivity targets
  • Monitors quality and appropriateness of medical care
  • Provides guidance and leadership for the medical staff providers and manages provider staff relations, PTO requests, and staffing/scheduling issues
  • Handles physician behavior and impairment issues
  • Establishes clinic policies and procedures in conjunction with leadership and interprets and administers personnel policies and provides training as needed
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory guidelines
 
JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
 
Education: 
  • Doctorate in Medicine, Board Certified in primary care specialty (Pediatrics, Family Practice, General Practice, Internal Medicine or Internal Medicine/Pediatrics)
 
Experience:
  • Four (4) to ten (10) years of experience in a community health center, and/or hospital setting
 
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Good ability to understand written sentences and paragraphs in work-related documents
  • Good ability in talking to others to convey information
  • Must be able to listen actively
  • Good ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
  • Good ability to consider the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one
  • Very high-level knowledge of the Microsoft Suite Programs (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook) 
  • Experience using Accounting programs, HRIS systems, and Project Management systems
  • Excellent skills in business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources
  • Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, labor relations and negotiation, and personnel information systems
  • Knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, and agency rules
  • Must be able to consider the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one
  • Must be able to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
  • Must be able to adjust actions in relation to others' actions
  • Must be able to delegate appropriately as well as take responsibility for the actions of supervised employees
 
Transportation Requirement:
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License and Reliable Transportation

Additional Information:
Clinic hours are Monday - Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
11 paid holidays per year.
