POSITION TITLE: Optometrist
REPORTS TO: Director of Medical Services
CLASSIFICATION: Exempt
CareSTL Health is seeking an Optometrist to join our team. The Optometrist provides the preventive and therapeutic optometry services for the patients of CareSTL Health.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The following information is considered the definition of essential functions but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned. The Optometrist may be reassigned duties and responsibilities at any time due to reasonable accommodation or other staffing reasons.
- Provides for the clinical care including but not limited to: routine refraction, test for muscle balance, examination and initial evaluation for ocular injury, slit lamp examination, application of tonometry, routine examination of the fundus; provides after-hours coverage for urgent health care problems for health center patients on an on-call basis.
- Participates in the health center’s Performance Improvement program and assists in the formulation and implementation of the health center’s health care plan especially in optometry protocols.
- Practices Evidence Base Medicine and Patient Centered medicine.
- Proficient in using Electronic Health Record (EHR) for: clinical documentation, order and review labs and radiology, and clear all the tasks in a timely manner per organizational policies.
- Maintain the required optometry licenses, certifications, and credentials that are required.
JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- Must be a graduate of an accredited optometry school
- Board certified
- Licensed to practice Optometry in the state of Missouri
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Effective clinical and communication skills
Transportation Requirement:
- Must have reliable transportation
Additional Eligibility Qualifications (licenses, programs, certificates, pre-employment check and post and annual screening(s)
- Copy of Board Certification as an Optometrist licensed to practice in the state of Missouri.
- Must maintain hospital-admitting privileges at appropriate hospitals.
- Must meet criteria for Meaningful Use of the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Annual PPD or chest x-ray.
Training Requirements (licenses, programs, or certificates)
- Board Certification as an Optometrist licensed to practice in the state of Missouri.
Additional Information:
- Clinic hours are Monday - Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
