Carex is partnering with a global industrial technology and specialty vehicle manufacturing partner to find a Principal Data Engineer to lead the advancement of data and analytics technologies across the enterprise. This role is central to establishing scalable, secure, and sustainable data solutions in a hybrid-cloud environment, with a strong focus on designing and implementing modern data platforms that support AI, analytics, and machine learning capabilities.

What You’ll Do

• Serve as a subject matter expert in cloud-based data engineering, modeling, and architecture across OLTP and OLAP systems.
• Coach and mentor engineers, guiding best practices in data solution design, implementation, and cybersecurity compliance.
• Design and deploy scalable cloud infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform within Microsoft Azure.
• Collaborate with enterprise and domain architects to develop and maintain reusable cloud service patterns for data and analytics.
• Build and maintain logical and physical data models using tools like ER Studio to support business performance and scalability.
• Develop ingestion and orchestration patterns leveraging CDC tools (e.g., Qlik Replicate, Debezium), Airflow, and shell scripting.
• Ensure alignment of data platforms with organizational cybersecurity standards, participating in assessments and mitigation strategies.
• Lead the integration of modern tools such as Databricks, Delta Lake, Hive metastore, and open-source transformation frameworks like dbt.
• Support data governance and quality initiatives across the enterprise while aligning with strategic business needs and long-term data scalability.
• Contribute to long-range planning and implementation of enterprise-wide data strategies, securing stakeholder buy-in and driving innovation.
  
  
  

What You’ll Bring

• Bachelor’s degree with 10 years of experience in data engineering or a related field.
• Demonstrated technical leadership and influence across technology teams.
• Proficiency in Python within analytics or data science environments and experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Expertise in cloud data engineering, particularly within Microsoft Azure environments.
• Experience designing and operationalizing scalable data pipelines and infrastructure using tools like Terraform, Databricks, and orchestration platforms.
• Familiarity with data governance, cybersecurity, and modern data warehousing best practices.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to bridge technical and business teams.
• Master’s degree in Analytics, Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline preferred.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure Gov Cloud (GCC High) is a plus.
