General Description
The Staff Pediatrician provides primary medical services and hospital care to children and adolescent patients of Caring Health Center. In addition, he/she participates actively in the development and execution of the general pediatric program at the Health Center, pediatric programs in the community, and such quality assurance, research, and administrative tasks as are deemed relevant to pediatric care at the Health Center by the Chief Medical Officer and Chief of Pediatrics

Minimum Requirements
The Staff Pediatrician provides primary medical services and hospital care to children and adolescent patients of Caring Health Center. Minimum Requirements
- Maintenance of unrestricted Massachusetts medical license.
- Completion of the M.D. degree.
- Completion of three years post-graduate residency training in an accredited pediatric residency program.
- AAP Board eligibility in Pediatrics.
- Maintenance of current DEA and Massachusetts Controlled Substances registrations.
- Demonstrated ability to provide quality care in a high-volume, multicultural health Center setting.
- Qualification for staff privileges at Baystate Medical Center and Mercy Medical Center, and maintenance of such privileges during job tenure.
- Qualification as a provider for major insurers.
- AAP Board Certification in Pediatrics
- Fluency in Spanish, Russian, Arabic, or other language spoken by the Health Center’s patient population
- Special expertise in provision of health care to underserved, culturally diverse populations
- Provide clinical care to children and adolescents
- Perform scheduled on-call duties, or find coverage when unable to participate
- Perform clerical and administrative tasks needed for quality patient care.
- Participate in Health Center and community health education activities and projects.
- Demonstrates sensitivity and responds appropriately to verbal and non-verbal communications of patients, families and co-workers.
- Maintains patient’s right to privacy, assuring dignity in the provision of care; is discreet in all communications, written or oral, about the patient’s care.
- Consistently utilizes good judgment in the resolution of problems, clinical and non-clinical.
- Possesses the ability to act independently and is willing to make decisions utilizing good judgment.
- Has the ability to visualize and anticipate new problems and to be part of the problem-solving process.
- Utilizes tact, courtesy, patience, and discretion in dealing with others.
- Posses the ability to maintain a stable presence under stress due to pressure of the work environment.
- Attends and actively participates in scheduled staff meetings.
- Participates in professional staff teaching, both formal and informal.
- Maintains clinical competence through on-going medical education and training.
- Maintains courtesy privileges at local hospitals (Mercy, Baystate).
- This position may require the ability to work long and arduous hours.
- On-call coverage is generally required; frequency depends upon need.
- There is potential exposure to patient blood and body fluids.
- This position requires the ability to use a computer workstation, viewing a CRT.
