Risk Management and Loss Prevention Activities
1. Actively participate in and carry out activities in support of the college’s Risk Management Program in a capacity appropriate to this position.
2. Monitor conditions, events, and circumstances present in the college operation to avoid potential torts or injuries to students, staff, or the general public, and then communicate observations to the appropriate supervisor and/or Risk Management Committee.
3. Maintain a working knowledge of the college’s emergency procedures and how to operate emergency phone systems; including internal/external call
- Responsible for processing financial aid applications and determination of awards in compliance with all federal, state, and institutional policies and procedures.
- Exercise professional judgment in interpreting and applying federal regulations.
- Evaluate student aid applications, complete federal verification, submit FAFSA corrections, prepare missing information and aid offer notification, and monitor continued eligibility.
- Overall responsibility for the student loan programs, including evaluation and processing loan requests, monitoring eligibility, provide loan exit interviews in accordance with federal guidelines.
- Advise students, prospective students, and families regarding student financial aid, eligibility, regulations and office policies and procedures.
- Assist students with the completion of the FAFSA, loan counseling and financial aid applications.
- Document student interactions accurately in the College database tracking systems as designated. Protect privacy of student educational records.
- Report and reconcile the Federal Pell Grant program and Direct Loan program with the Business Office and the Department of Education.
- Ensure quality customer service by providing timely processing of applications and continuous evaluation of procedures to offer recommendations for improvements.
- Maintain the financial aid web pages by providing updates and ensuring accuracy.
- Identify and analyze problems pertaining to financial aid with an emphasis towards problem resolution and student service.
- Provide financial aid presentations to high school and on-campus groups.
- Maintain up to date knowledge of State and Federal financial aid regulations.
- Assist in the development, modification and writing of Financial Aid policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Monitoring satisfactory academic progress and other federal and state regulations.
- Annual updates to Colleague for document tracking, awarding and financial aid maintenance.
- Act as backup for Veteran’s financial aid processing and eligibility certification.
- Annual audit.

Minimum Necessary Skills, Experience, and Educational Background

- Bachelor’s degree, 120 semester hours, or specialized related training required with two or more years of related experience in higher education preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in computer programs and related technology needed for the successful implementation of department processes and recordkeeping.
- Ability to work independently.
- The ability to communicate successfully with clients of all ages, socio-economic status, sex, or race.
- Spanish or French proficiency preferred.
Physical Requirements to Perform Job Function
Physical Requirements to Perform Job Functions - Must be physically able to pack, lift, carry and transport equipment and materials as needed (20 lbs.) and the ability to place work orders for anything over that limit.
- Basic dexterity skills (computer work, telephone, and other office equipment).
