OBJECTIVE / PURPOSE

The Digital Instructional Designer will be responsible for overseeing the ideation, creation, implementation and evaluation of digital learning solutions that are engaging, interactive, and demonstrate measurable effectiveness for learners. This role will involve working collaboratively with subject matter experts, stakeholders, and other members of product development teams to develop learning materials and experiences that meet the needs of the organization.


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND FUNCTIONS

  • Apply instructional design theories, models, and best practices to create measurable effective learning experiences.
  • Conduct needs assessments, analyze learning goals, and evaluate the effectiveness of current and new digital content.
  • Ideate, design and develop digital learning materials, including e-learning modules that support students and teachers and demonstrate measurable improvement in learning.
  • Develop storyboards and write scripts for instructional videos, simulations, interactive activities, that result in increased engagement and understanding of learning objectives.
  • Develop digital assessments that take advantage of the LMS tagging and reporting capabilities and support AI generated remediation and recommends instructional paths.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to understand learning objectives, content, and audience needs that inform development and use of digital resources.
  • Create and maintain project timelines, budgets, and resources across multiple departments.
  • Ensure learning materials are accessible and comply with relevant standards and regulations.
  • Use learning management systems and other technologies to test and troubleshoot developed assets.
  • Provide guidance and support to stakeholders and team members on digital learning solutions and technologies.
  • Keep up to date with emerging trends and best practices in digital learning and instructional design.
  • Collaborate on design for digital content to ensure clean and user-friendly UX.
  • Collaborate with external resources, both domestic and offshore teams.
  • Effectively apply our system policy and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as requested.


POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelors Degree in instructional design, educational technology, learning science, or a related field required. Masters Degree preferred.

Experience: 7 years experience in instructional design. 5 years in digital content creation.

Specialized Training/Skills: Strong knowledge of instructional design theories, models, and best practices. Experience with e-learning authoring tools, learning management systems, and other digital learning technologies. Knowledge of accessibility standards and regulations for digital learning materials. Knowledge of user experience design standards and best practices for digital learning development. Ability to work collaboratively with subject matter experts, stakeholders, and team members. Experience with design and storyboarding tools and techniques. Excellent communication, organization, project management, and problem-solving skills.

Experience working with international teams and knowledge of science education standards (NGSS) desired.
