What are the responsibilities and job description for the Food Scientist position at Carolina Ingredients?

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
· Expertly develop new and innovative seasoning blends from concept to scale up completion for application such as gravies, marinades, rubs, functional meat/protein blends, snacks, etc.
· Accurately create formulas in a timely manner according to customer requirements, specified restrictions, and other project specifications.
· Assist in create blending procedures for production formulas, as well specifications and 100 gram nutritional breakouts
· Manage multiple projects and show technical competence in the completion of assigned projects without supervision.
· Foster professional relationships with customers to ensure customer relationship building for the future.
· Build partnerships with ingredient suppliers and request ingredients for samples as needed.
· Participate in the development of future target markets, providing technical insight as needed.
· Expertly match existing seasoning blends while following customer restrictions.
· Make finished product samples as needed.
· Conduct function and/or sensory evaluation on new ingredients, flavors and finished products.
· Monitor production of New Items for accuracy and proper execution.
· Process new ingredients within SAP and Genesis, including obtaining documentation and price information.
· Effectively communicate updates on project developments/matches, sample production, and other necessary information.
· Attend customer visits and presentations as required by Sales.
· Manage and maintain food safety through the facility, within the scope of job responsibilities.
Qualifications include, but not limited to:
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field (Food Science, Culinology, chemistry or related field)
3 years of dry seasoning blend application work and/or protein application work experience
Technical knowledge of food ingredients
Working knowledge of R&D processes, as well as production and safety procedures
Basic computer skills including effective use of Microsoft Office, including Excel and Teams
-Experience with Genesis Nutritional Software and SAP are highly desirable.
