Carr Veterinary Hospital, a single-doctor, companion animal hospital in Oak Ridge, NC, is searching for a Veterinary Assistant to join our exceptional team. Prior veterinary, humane society or other animal-related experience is preferred, however, we’re also open to training.
Background and experience:
- Empathetic and caring personality with excellent customer service skills
- Comfortable working with computers; experience with EzyVet is a plus
- Passionate about building a strong bond with Carr Veterinary Hospital clientele
- Team player who is productive, dependable, focused, and detail-oriented
- Committed to a career in veterinary medicine with an interest in growth and ongoing training
- Familiar with (or eager to learn about) the veterinary field (terminology, procedures, medical conditions, etc.)
Responsibilities:
- Patient restraint
- Blood draw and obtaining cytology samples
- Administering medication, vaccinations, injections
- Microscopic evaluation
- General outpatient procedures
- Surgical prep, anesthesia monitoring, general surgical assistance
- Assisting with welcoming and discharging patients
- Managing phone lines
- General cleaning duties

- Compensation: $16 - $20
- Flexible Schedule: Full-time position with flexible scheduling options (4-10s or 5-8s) Monday - Friday with rotating Saturdays.
- $500 bonus package for Vet Assistants with 3 current/consecutive years of experience

The majority of our patients are small animals, however, we do see exotics (birds, rabbits, pocket pets) on occasion. Our primary procedures include spays and neuter, dentistry, mass removals, exploratory and abdominal surgery, and some light orthopedic surgery.
