Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Controls Project Engineer - HVAC located in Phoenix, AZ. The Controls Project Engineer will be responsible for designing and implementing HVAC control systems, developing project plans, coordinating with clients and internal teams, and ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget. Other day-to-day tasks include troubleshooting and resolving technical issues, programming control systems, and maintaining comprehensive project documentation.
Specific responsibilities for this position include:
- Advanced knowledge with BAS systems, Carrier i-Vu knowledge is a plus
- Requires an individual with an advanced skillset in BAS / controls programming
- Programming of controls systems and implementing developed Sequence of Operations
- Complete each assigned project focusing on customer satisfaction and specification compliance while maintaining budgetary guidelines
- Partner with sales function to set parameters for equipment needs and project timeline
- Create submittals, read and understand project specifications and MEP drawing sets, controls and shop drawings
- Document and track project completion with as-builts and final program notation with all field changes in collaboration with our Project Manager
- Assemble Operation & Maintenance Manuals for completed projects.
- Utilize company and as required customer standard programs for designing graphic function blocks for assigned projects
- Test project programs to ensure specified sequences of operation are met and performed accordingly to industry standards
- Inspect HVAC system including point-to-point, determining the proper operating ranges for field devices, as well as complete functional system checkouts
- Conduct graphics engineering functions which include creating equipment and floor plan graphics per project documents
- Submit material orders for project-required required materials to the purchasing group.
- Job requires some fieldwork with controllers and associated components alongside our Controls Field Engineers
- Assist in the development of functional checkpoints lists for commissioning and additional documentation requirements to commission the system or work with the Commissioning Agent

Qualifications
- Experience with HVAC control systems design and implementation
- Proficiency in project management and coordination
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Strong programming skills for control systems
- Ability to work collaboratively with clients and internal teams
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
- Professional Engineering (PE) license is a plus
