Selection Procedure:
- Reports to work as scheduled on a regular and reliable basis.
- Works with students in a supportive role under conditions determined by the instructional professional staff responsible for the students, but not as a substitute for or replacement of functions and duties of a teacher as established in the Code.
- Enables and encourages students' independence.
- Learns to effectively operate communication devices and other assistive tech nology required by students.
- Assists with implementing students' Individualized Education Plans and Behavior Intervention Plans with fidelity.
- Assists with implementing students' Individualized Health Care Plans, emergency pland and/or evacuation plans.
- Modifies and/or accomodates materials under the teacher's direction.
- Assists with group instructional reinforcement, support students at teacher's direction, as needed.
- Assists in individual or group data collection and progress monitoring.
- Assists in providing feedback on student work
- Assists teacher in promoting a positive learning environment. Supports and maintains individualized behavior management programs.
- Assists teacher with implemention of specific instructional requirements as indicated in the the individual education plans for each student.
- Assists with preparation of instructional materials as needed.
- Assists teacher with gathering data for reports and paperwork related functions as needed.
- Students with physical needs:
- Assists students as needed, including but not limited to: lifting and carrying of students including on and off the bus; diapering; toilet training and assisting in the bathroom; feeding; and providing academic assistance.
- Students with Behavior Needs:
- Assists willingly in potential Non-Violent Crisis Interventions utilizing the skills learned through CPI training in accordance within Iowa Department of Education Regulations: Chapter 103.
- Assists willingly in the maintenance of student safety if student attempt elopement through skills learrned through CPI training in accordance within Iowa Department of Education Regulations: Chapter 103.
- Assists teacher and/or administrator in supervision of students including, but not limited to: loading/unloading buses, hallways, lunchroom, playground and in individualized settings.
- Participated in required progessional development as deisgnated by the District.

- Mandatory Reported: Child & Adult
- CPI Restraint & De-esclation (REQUIRED)
- Operated school equipment such as Chromebooks, copier, communication devices, etc.
- Required to attend 7 professional development days througout the school year: 2 at the beginning of the school year and 5 as determined by the District during the school year.
- Demonstrates professionalism and manintains confidentiality.
- Assumes other duties as requested by superintendent, building principal or designee.
Job Summary:

- High school graduate or equivalency diploma
- Prior satisfactory work experience with children or youth preferred
- Evidence of mental and emotional maturity and stability
- Technology skills
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board may find appropriate and acceptable
