Aftercare Counselor
Carrollwood Day School is looking for positive and energetic people to join our After-School Care team. Qualified candidates will be reliable, hands-on, child safety-minded, and possess a can-do attitude. Counselors will ensure the safety of the children as they lead them through a schedule of activities including snack, outdoor play, arts & crafts and more! The ideal candidate is creative, patient, kind, reliable and hard-working. Counselors at our main campus on Bearss Avenue must be open to working with a variety of age groups, starting from 1st grade through 5th grade. Counselors at our Early Childhood Campus on Casey Road must be DCF certified or eligible, and comfortable and experienced working with children from age two through Kindergarten.
Counselors must be at least 18 years old. Must be able to maintain a clean and organized classroom and model behaviors and attitudes that are consistent with the CDS mission and policies of the school.
This is an hourly non-exempt position. Shift times begin at 2:30pm to 6pm, Monday - Friday. There are some days throughout the school year where shift times will be 7:30am to 3:30pm for Faculty Kids Care.

Job Responsibilities:
- Actively supervise and positively interact with children
- Conduct oneself as a "role model" for children; provide appropriate direction of children in their daily routine
- Adhere to appropriate adult/student boundaries at all times
- Maintain clean, safe, fun, and engaging activity site
- Maintain an accurate roster of student attendance during check in and out procedures
- Work cooperatively with fellow staff
- Maintain and manage Student Union/MPR property and supplies (includes all set up, clean up, and end of day closing)
- Attend all staff meetings and trainings when applicable
- Wear appropriate attire and designated aftercare uniform as required
- Ride on school bus and attend all staff care trips as required
- All other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required
- Previous experience working with school-age children is required
- Candidates must be able to move easily inside and outside in order to provide adequate supervision in our facility
- Candidates with a background in visual or performing arts, sports, STEM, summer camps, or classroom experience are given preference
- Must possess and present a positive attitude and professional appearance
- Must have dependable transportation
- Must be able to successfully pass with Level II fingerprint national background check
- Ability, willingness, and judgment to interact and communicate courteously and effectively with all constituents in a school environment is required
