Administrative Assistant - Full-Time or Part-Time
Carter-Plagmann Tax Accounting is searching for an individual to support our seasonal tax preparation business as an Administrative Assistant between January 15 and April 15. This position has the potential to be either full-time (40 hours during tax season) or part-time. Working schedule is negotiable.
This is an ideal role for those who are currently studying accounting/finance in school, looking to switch careers, recently retired but looking to stay engaged during the winter, and stay-at-home parents seeking work during school days.
We are an established, referral-only practice with an extremely high client retention rate. We value long-term relationships and offer a positive, supportive, family-like work environment.
Pay Range
- $22-24/hour
- Full-time or part-time work during tax season between January 15 and April 15
- Potential for optional part-time work throughout the remainder of the year
Responsibilities
- Serve as backup/overflow for front desk duties: greet office visitors, answer phone calls, take messages, make appointment reminder calls, manage and track the status of incoming and outgoing communication and deliveries
- Assist with printing and/or mailing paper tax organizer to clients
- Populate and file client documents before, during, and after tax return completion, which includes making copies and scanning documents
- Assemble paper and/or electronic copies of completed tax returns
- Track invoices, pick-up of tax returns, and payments
- Maintain complete client confidentiality and high level of professionalism
- Assist with other administrative tasks, as needed
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Able and willing to work full-time or part-time in the office during the busy tax season (mid-January through mid-April); remote work is unavailable
- Proficiency using File Explorer, Microsoft Outlook, Firefox web browser
- Ability to use copy machine to make copies and scan documents
- Excellent customer service skills, including verbal and written communications
- Great attention to detail
- Ability to physically move files up to 25 lbs
- Ability to work while standing for up to two-hour increments
- No prior criminal felonies or misdemeanors
Preferred Qualifications
- Associates degree or greater
- 2 years experience working in a professional office environment
- 2 years customer service experience in a deadline-driven, high output environment
- Prior experience working in Lacerte or other tax preparation software
- Willingness to grow responsibilities as knowledge increases
