Seeking a caring, conscientious advocate with experience in direct community action and a Bachelor’s degree in social service related field. The Lead Family Development Specialist (FDS) is responsible for directly working with families as well as supporting other Family Development Specialists, with the goal of assisting families in supporting their children’s development and their family’s wellbeing. The Lead FDS conducts community outreach to recruit and enroll families in the program; ensures that each family is assessed and offered resources, information, and follow-up support to help families achieve their goals; coordinates workshops and parenting education activities. Position Highlights
- Act as case manager for each assigned family and assess the need for intervention; refer and link families to community resources; follow-up with supportive services, assess and document progress toward achieving goals in a timely manner.
- Actively and enthusiastically support recruitment efforts to ensure that the program is fully enrolled year-round. This includes attending health fairs, resource fairs, and community events, during regular business hours as well as occasional evening and weekend hours; canvassing communities (parks, libraries, laundromats, local businesses, clinics, etc.) to connect with families and share information about early childhood programming
- Coordinate and conduct home visits as needed to support home-school connection, address attendance concerns and provide other family supports, and support other FDS with engaging in the same process.
- Ensure timely, accurate, and comprehensive completion of enrollment processes, which includes accurate completion of all governmental eligibility forms and communicating with the appropriate staff to ensure the program is ready to meet the needs of each unique child and family.
- Ensure that all families have an ongoing source of continuous accessible health care (medical home, dental home, and insurance) and assist families in securing and obtaining one when needed.
- Identify and understand the scope of community resources and how they can meet the needs of children and families served.
- Provide information to parents on education activities that can be done at home to enhance early learning.
- Work on other Adhoc projects as assigned by the Director of Family Services.
