What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medicare Biller/Collector position at Casa Colina Hospital and Centers for Healthcare?

This patient account representative primarily performs Medicare billing and collection task. Representative ensures claims are timely billed and promptly collected pursuant to applicable payer billing guidelines, payer fee schedules, contract rates and letters of agreement. This includes billing clients/patients on a self payment basis for the cash rate. Ensuring claims are billed electronically whenever available and to streamline the mailing of paper claims. Representative also interacts with insurance companies, payers and clients to collect claim reimbursement.
Requirements:
Ability to effectively operate business office machines (eg. 10 key calculator, typewriter).
Knowledge of billing and collection procedures in a health care environment.
Mathematical, analytical, and clerical abilities.
Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing with third-party payers as well as patients and staff.
Capable of safely performing functions indigenous to the position including sitting for long period of time, mobility, lifting, squatting, reaching overhead, and repetitive use of upper extremities. Education and/or experience sufficient to meet the requirements of the job. Five (5) years experience in hospital billing specific to Medicare).
Pay: $25-$30 per hour
