What are the responsibilities and job description for the Program Supervisor position at CASA of Douglas County?
A. Provide Case Management
* Communicate and evaluate all case updates of a critical nature with the Executive Director
* Attend shelter hearings in rotation with other Program Supervisors. Record pertinent information for weekly program meeting
* Research, evaluate and assign cases to appropriate volunteer advocates in consultation with the other Program Supervisors at weekly program meetings
* Remain abreast of all Juvenile Court requests for CASAs;
* Manage discovery and disseminate to all parties.
* Interact professionally with Juvenile Court and all case related agencies;
* Coordinate, document, and channel appropriately all information related to CASA cases until resolution of the case;
* Provide face to face or phone support, supervision, direction, consultation, and assistance to volunteers as related to case assignments;
* Ensure volunteers are prepared for scheduled court hearings as necessary; including assistance with submitting court report in appropriate time frame
* Participate in weekly group staff meetings
* Interact with other case participants in a collaborative, problem solving role;
* Maintain up to date case files so as to be in compliance with all state and National CASA standards. Regular updates are required to ensure this.
B. Supervises Volunteers
* Maintain consistent (at least monthly) phone or face to face contact with assigned volunteers;
* Assist volunteers in creation of required written court reports by reviewing (and correcting if necessary) the content and form of such reports;
* Guide, support and monitor volunteer activities;
* Attend court hearings (including pre-trials, CRBs, DHS meetings) with new CASAs and when additional support or supervision is required with seasoned CASAs.
* Educate and guide volunteers via case planning to identify and make recommendations to the court that remain in the best interest of the child;
* Ensure that volunteers are appropriately advocating for the children in their case via the number of hours spent with the children and the time spent researching the case;
* Ensure that volunteers provide advocacy that is sensitive to the cultural, ethnic, socioeconomic, and religious background of each child and that the special needs of each child are addressed;
* Ensure volunteers submit, in a timely fashion, all required reports due to CASA program;
* Assist volunteers with the preparation of oral presentations to the Juvenile Court;
* Read, review all discovery and documentation relating to cases assigned to a volunteer;
* In coordination with other Program Supervisors monitor petitions and documentation for children without a volunteer;
* Coordinate, facilitate and support volunteer participation in ongoing in-service programs and continuing education;
* Participate in the development and implementation of the volunteer recognition program.
* Ensure conflict of interest policy is regularly reviewed, signed by and enforced by the Volunteer;
C. Training, Development & Retention
* Training volunteers using approved materials meeting National CASA standards. Assist in the selection of community members who will participate in CASA volunteer training and, subsequently, those who will become CASA volunteers;
* Work collaboratively with Program team and ED to maintain outline for on-going trainings (Lunch and Learn). When hosting Training have materials and invites sent in a timely manner.
* Work collaboratively with Program team to plan PC Huddle topics, outings, and other methods for showing appreciation of PCs in consultation with ED
* Responsible in developing and updating the volunteer training manual and maintain a volunteer resource library with approval of ED.
* In consultation with the ED, participate as in the development of program strategies
* In consultation with the ED, assist with the implementation of program plans and goals
* Recruit, screen, and interview possible Volunteers throughout the county.
* Ensure volunteers are informed of the organizations internal grievance process and whistleblower policy
* Mentor new CASA’s as needed
* With staff collaboration identify, invite, and train PCs
C. Employee Development
* Complete CASA Training;
* Attend staff meetings, in-service and brown bag trainings, conferences, seminars, and other meetings as requested;
* Maintain general understanding of current information and conditions relative to child abuse and neglect.
* Maintain a professional and collegial attitude and respect for supervisors, co-workers and volunteers.
* Maintain a clean work area and participate in promoting cleanliness and general organization of other common areas.
