Registered Nurse

Wage band range $35.00 - $50.00 per hour; however, starting pay is ultimately determined by the scope of the position, the candidate's relevant experience, and internal equity.

Nestled in the foothills of the Santa Monica Mountains in Camarillo, Casa Pacifica’s 25-acre Camino a Casa’s beautiful rural setting is four miles from the Pacific Ocean and midway between Los Angeles and Santa Barbara.

Under the administrative direction of the Health Clinic Manager and the Chief Operating Officer, the Registered Nurse is responsible for providing safe and efficient nursing care to youth and their families.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (illustrated by typical activities):

• Demonstrates knowledge, effectiveness, and efficiency in providing nursing care.
• Provides a safe and therapeutic environment that ensures patient’s rights are respected.
• Safely prepares, administers, documents and monitors results of medications.
• Responds appropriately to crisis situations. Therapeutically intervenes to de-escalate and calm anxious and/or acting out patients.
• Provides thorough intake and elopement assessments, documents findings accurately, and communicates findings in a timely manner.
• Assesses youth when injured or ill.
• Utilizes appropriate nursing interventions based on assessments and implements standing orders when indicated.
• Assist with pre-intake procedures.
• Provides orientation to parents/guardians/youth regarding Health Services and procedures.
• Oversees consent process for psychotropic medication.
• Acts as liaison for Camino a Casa Program
• Provides clinical oversight of LVN’s.
• Participates in patient rounds, treatment team meetings, staff meetings, and other committee meeting as needed and determined by supervisor.
• Assists with health education for youth, families, and staff.
• Assists with medication order processing and refills.
• Assists with audits, oversight of tasks or projects as directed by supervisor.
• Maintains confidentiality in all matters within the organization with respect to personnel, operations, medical histories, and clients.
• Collaborates with entire Health Services Team to provide safe and efficient care to clients and families.
• Collaborates and communicates with entire treatment team (including direct care staff, clinicians, community providers, education services, guardians, parents, probation, social services) as needed and as allowed by law.
• Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Current RN license with equivalent of two years full-time working as an RN (BSN preferred).

• Minimum one year of experience working with children/adolescents.
• Excellent understanding of child and adolescent behavior.
• Experience with behavioral health highly preferred
• Experience with psychotropic medication preferred
• Working understanding of Trauma Informed Care (i.e. ability to articulate meaning).
• Self-directed, organized, detail-oriented
• Skilled at communication with clients, families, co-workers
• Able to problem solve independently

CREDENTIALS: Valid California Registered Nurse License
