Full‑Stack Software Engineer
Employment Type: Full‑time, Permanent
Location: On‑site — San Francisco, CA
About Cascade Space
Cascade Space (YC X25) is a space communications infrastructure startup. We are building a ground network and system design software to support next generation spacecraft, with an emphasis on deep space exploration.
Our Cascade Portal is an web application that allows users to model their spacecraft communications link and perform dynamic simulations.
Culture
You will be responsible for our Cascade Portal, which is a web-based tool for building link budgets and doing communication system analysis.
Our customers will be using this software to plan very high stakes missions. This software must work well, and we cannot rely on our users to test it for us. Reliability and verifiability is critical.
What You’ll Do
The day to day duties of this role do not involve ITAR or EAR materials, however many of our potential customers have designs and information that are restricted. Therefore, this role may be filled only by “U.S. Persons.”
A “U.S. Person” is defined as a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, lawful permanent resident (green‑card holder), or an individual who has been granted asylum or refugee status. Candidates who cannot satisfy this requirement unfortunately cannot be considered for employment at Cascade Space at this time.

Culture
- Mission‑driven: We are working together for a common goal of advancing space exploration and human permanence in and around the solar system.
- Deep work: We are an early stage startup, and need to work hard. That said, work is not measured by how many hours you put in but by how much value you ship. We prioritize conditions for doing our best work, minimizing distraction and context switching.
- Efficiency: We minimize the things that feel like work but aren’t actually work. If something we’re doing is stupid, speak up, and we will fix it.
- Respect: We challenge each other, but we do so with respect. No assholes.
