SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Practice Manager, the Medical Assistant is responsible for managing aspects of the patient process that ensure a welcoming and efficient experience when they are in the clinic.
The MA is responsible for supporting medical staff to enable delivery of their duties including pre and post visit care, administering procedures as authorized by the Medical Director, and supporting delivery of at-home protocols. Additionally, the MA is responsible for managing relationships between Case Integrative Health certain suppliers and partnerships. These relationships will be primarily, but not exclusively, medically related (e.g. relationships with labs, pharmacies, medical consumable suppliers, insurance companies, etc.)
SCHEDULE:
Full-time, Monday – Friday. Very rarely nights and weekends may be required with advanced notice. Travel will be <5% with advanced notice.
RESPONSIBLITIES:
1. Support providers in creating a welcoming and efficient in-clinic experience including:
- Ensuring timely pre-charting including notes, labs, forms and other documentation prior to scheduled appointments
Checking and charting vitals then rooming patients
Triaging Patient Portal Questions
2. Support nurses in creating a welcoming and efficient in-clinic experience including:
Checking and charting vitals before/during treatment
Administering / supporting procedures per Medical Director and nurse’s directions
Cleaning rooms/chairs as needed
Prescription refill support, pharmacy confirmations and prior authorizations
Disability and insurance paperwork
Organizing and maintaining the storeroom
3. Maintaining safe, secure, clean and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations
4. Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- MA certification must be completed (as of the time of start date) and current.
- Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written, as well as bedside manners.
- Service orientated: capable of providing a calming, confident voice to patients and visitors with a friendly and approachable demeanor; able to resolve patient issues in a timely and appropriate manner; willingness to take ownership of patient problems and drive them to satisfactory conclusions.
- Strong time management and organizational skills. Able to wear multiple hats.
- Commensurate team player who is willing to work every day to make everyone better.
- Must be self-starter and comfortable with ambiguity.
- Compassionate, curious and driven.
- Fluency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, EMR and medical billing a plus, but not required.
- Service industry experience a plus.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Visual/hearing ability sufficient to comprehend written/verbal communication.
- Ability to perform tasks involving physical activity which may include lifting, bending and standing.
- Ability to deal effectively with stress.
- Must be able to travel to clinics downtown and in the western suburbs routinely each week
