What are the responsibilities and job description for the Security Officer position at Cass Regional Medical Center?
Primary Purpose: To provide professional security oversight of the hospital and grounds by protecting persons and property in accordance with state and federal regulations and JCAHO standards while promoting the Cass Regional mission statement.
Formal Policy-Setting Responsibilities: Formally responsible for making recommendations regarding policies associated with the job's purpose and essential responsibilities.
Routine Decision Making: Determines when to intervene with combative patients; when and how to confront family members.
Required Knowledge: Must obtain a police commission for an armed agent, which includes shooting a qualifying score with a handgun.
Required Skills and Ability: Ability to communicate well orally and in writing; ability to work well with people under stressful conditions; understand fire safety principles and ability to direct others during an emergency; ability to use a computer.
Unusual Working Conditions: Must be able to traverse all types of terrain in all types of weather and will assist in the restraint and control of combative patients or suspects.
Education and Certification/ Registration Required for the Position: High school education.
Age Specific Competencies: Provides care for birth to pediatric (birth-2 yrs.), pediatric/child patients between (2 yrs-12 yrs); adolescent patients between 12 to 18 years of age; adult patients between 18 to 64 years; and geriatric patients 65 years and older.
