Front End Lead

Position Overview:

This is a hands-on position and will require that the individual be responsible for performing a variety of roles that involve all aspects of the front-end processing area. The individual will be accountable for achieving operational goals, while maintaining quality and safety standards.

This individual will be responsible for contributing to a consistent, safe, and productive work environment through participation in corporate programs, and adhering to operational and personnel policies and procedures. With a focus on the success of the overall operation, the individual will work closely with the production, quality and maintenance teams to maintain optimal quality, safety and efficiencies.

Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions

• Train new and current Mixers/Operators on proper machine settings, product formulations, evaluating product attributes, etc.
• Recognizes out of spec product and takes action by coaching/advising Mixers/Operators to resolve problem to minimize waste and downtime
• Provides technical assistance, knowledge, and expertise to mixer/operators: formulas, product quality, dough characteristics, operating parameters, etc.
• Trouble-shoots and problem solves production problems; ensures consistency in operating parameters; works to reduce variation in production measures
• Reduces product waste, downtime; improves yields and reduces cost through assisting Mixer/Operators in executing their tasks
• Communicate maintenance and/or sanitation issues in a timely and professional manner
• Communicate production needs and/or changes to Packaging Lead.
• Ensures raw materials are available for production. Track quantities used and lot numbers
• Ensures operation of the equipment by calling for repairs and communicating with the maintenance team
• Provides technical input and advice/recommendations to operation management on matters of equipment operation and operator performance
• Ensures the quality is acceptable to customer specifications
• Reports issues to Supervisor
• Assumes Production Supervisor responsibilities when Production Supervisor is absent
• Assist with the regrinding process
• Ensure Operators are following safety standards while working; to include regrinding
• Track Item and serial numbers in ERP System (Plex) to ensure proper ingredients and quantities

Education & Experience

• High school graduate or equivalent
• 3 years food processing experience required
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques a plus
• Previous experience in a leadership role
• English language proficiency - written and verbal – required
  
  
  

Specific Competencies

• Ability to identify product quality and specification attributes
• Ability to lift 50lbs to a height of 4 feet
• Ability to push/pull a bowl containing 500 lbs of dough
• Ability to accurately measure ingredients
• Ability to safely operate industrial machinery
• Ability to provide work direction and coaching to mixers/operators
• Ability to train and communicate effectively with Mixers/Operators
• Ability to stand and move continuously over a 8-10 hour shift.
• Ability to trouble-shoot machine and equipment problems
