Head of Business Development & Client Relations
Los Angeles, CA – On-Site Position
Category Company is a Los Angeles based, vertically integrated real estate firm that delivers ground-up Multifamily & Mixed-use projects through its in-house Development, Construction, Management, & Design Group platforms. Their positioning is “full-service real estate from the ground up,” with a focus on design-forward, community-oriented projects across LA.
This role will be the Company’s outward-facing relationship owner for our General Contracting business. They will be responsible for originating opportunities, expanding and diversifying the pipeline, advancing deals through contract execution, and stewarding client relationships. This requires somebody who excels at opening doors, building trust and owning the client relationship end-to-end, while partnering with executive leadership on final go/no-go decisions.
Responsibilities
- Generate new client opportunities through strategic relationships and warm introductions
- Identify active projects via municipal filings and industry networks
- Prioritize relationship-led pipeline growth over cold outreach
- Innovate new methods to source opportunities ahead of competitors
- Own deals from first contact through contract execution
- Partner with operations, estimating, and legal on proposals and negotiations
- Maintain accurate CRM and pipeline reporting
- Lead contract negotiations and drive agreements to execution
- Stay engaged through construction to ensure alignment and client confidence
- Manage client communications and expectations
- Drive repeat business, referrals, and long-term relationships
Requirements
- Extensive experience in Business Development and client facing activities in construction, development, or related professional services
- Must understand construction and the composition of a General Construction schedule and project management
- Demonstrated ability to build trust-based relationships with owners and project teams
- Strong working knowledge of construction contracts and negotiation processes
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, credibility, and professional judgment
- Creative, proactive, and disciplined in sourcing and advancing opportunities
