Speech Language Pathologist

The Speech Language Pathologist provides inpatient acute care services and is a vital member of a multidisciplinary team providing advanced, high quality healthcare.

Responsibilities:

• Evaluates and treat patients with speech, language and/or swallowing impairments.
• Performs objective swallow evaluations.
• Recommends least restrictive safe diet consistencies to maximize patient nutrition.

• Patient population includes cardiac, orthopedic, neurologic, vascular, pulmonary and medical-surgical patient.

• Develops individualized treatment plans and set goals for patients diagnosed as needing speech and language / feeding/swallowing interventions.  Re-evaluates and modifies treatment programs as warranted.
• Areas addressed include articulation, voice, fluency, receptive and expressive language skills, oral motor competence and dysphagia.
• Documents notes accurately for all patient visits in EMR(EPIC)
• Educates patient and family members 
• Works with interdisciplinary team for plan of care

Requirements:

• Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology required.
• Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech and Language from American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
• New York State license and registration in Speech-Language Pathology required.
• BLS certification.
• MBS (Modified Barium Swallow) experience/ competency required.
• FEES ( Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing) experience / competency required.
• Acute care/ hospital setting experience is required.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to comply with all regulatory standards.
