What are the responsibilities and job description for the Teacher position at Cattaraugus & Wyoming Counties Project Head Start?

40 hours per week

Job Summary

Primary responsibility for classroom and educational activities in compliance with all policies, regulations and performance standards. Creating a safe environment for children ages 3 and 4 years old, encouraging children to learn and grow.

Qualifications

Associates Degree in an Early Childhood Education related discipline

OR

Associates Degree in a related field and three years relevant teaching experience

Job Description

· Lead the classroom team in planning and implementing all classroom activities including field trips; maintain classroom in a clean, safe and educationally sound manner; conduct monthly fire drills; integrate all program areas; oversee administration of developmental assessments leading to the design of an appropriate program for the enrolled children.

· Maintain documentation including, but not limited to, meal census, attendance, volunteers, substitute allowances, inventory of classroom supplies and equipment, child development and progress, requisition requests, and family contacts.

· Lead the classroom team in facilitating child development and interacting with families as necessary including conducting at least two home visits for each child; invite parents to center and classroom activities; educate parents in child development; develop and maintain regular communication with families, including monthly program calendars.

· Observe children in an ongoing manner, documenting those observations. Communicate any concerns immediately to the appropriate member of the Head Start Management Team for advice, counsel, and any direction(s).

· Work in partnership with all staff to facilitate all operations of the program in compliance with Head Start policies, regulations, guidelines and performance standards.
