Job Summary & Requirements

Job Summary :

Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment by performing the following duties.

Duties / Responsibilities :

• Performs other related duties as assigned.
• Demonstrates the behaviors of punctuality, regular attendance, professionalism towards supervisors and co-workers, and self-directed task completion.
• Maintains clean work area.
• Must comply with all departmental SOP's (Standard Operating Procedures), company GMP's (Good Manufacturing Practices), Employee Handbook Policies, including attendance, and all safety rules and standards.
• Works normal shift hours and overtime as required.
• Performs routine maintenance in accordance with schedules determined by supervisor.
• Provides technical assistance to plant supervisory personnel as related to employee orientation and training and / or training activities.
• Immediately responds to every breakdown to ensure machinery is up and running.
• Must be proactive, detect minor problems and correct them before they become major problems.
• Locates areas in need of repair, determines necessary repairs and performs work as appropriate or reports problem to supervisor.
• Must maintain a neat and clean work area, and have a good turnover with production staff.
• Identifies any safety discrepancies and take immediate action.
• Utilizes plant CMMMS system to open and close work orders and track routine maintenance.
• Assists with inventory stock and notify maintenance lead when inventory is low.

• Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
• Ability to read and write comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
• Ability to address issues involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Ability to effectively communicate ideas, information and or work assignments with co-workers and management as needed.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
• Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent.
• Ability to read a standard ruler to 1 / 32 and a metric ruler to 1mm.
• Ability to read and comprehend an electrical blueprint.
• Ability to troubleshoot live electrical.
• Ability to read and comprehend machine blueprint.
• Ability to effectively troubleshoot machines to keep down time to a minimum.

Education and Experience :

High school or equivalent and a minimum of 5 years prior experience involving general plant maintenance work involving both electrical and mechanical systems;

or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Requirements :

Regularly required to stand and reach with hands and arms.

Frequently required to walk; stoop, kneel, crouch and talk or hear.

Frequently lift and / or carry up to 50 pounds and push / pull up to 125 pounds.

Requires constant movement and bending.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment :

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, dust, chemicals and vibration.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
