What are the responsibilities and job description for the Spanish Interpreter/Patient Advocate position at CCMC Cook Children's Medical Center?
Location: Medical Center - Fort Worth Department: Emergency Dept Shift: Second Shift (United States of America) Standard Weekly Hours: 36 Summary: Functions as an integral member of the multidisciplinary team. Consistently maintains a professional, therapeutic, helpful image and attitude. Provides emotional support to families in crisis. Provides Spanish translation and interpretation for all aspects of emergency care. Qualifications: Associates degree required. At least two years experience in a direct patient care setting preferred. Demonstrates proficiency in English and secondary language. Special consideration for experienced translator in the following language: Spanish. Familiarity with medical terminology an asset. Previous interpretation / translation experience preferred. High school diploma required. Spanish interpreters / translators must meet Spanish proficiency levels defined by Cook Childrens Health Care System and measured by objective and nationally recognized oral language, reading and writing tests. All applicants are tested to determine their Spanish proficiency level to qualify for employment. Applicants must meet minimally required Spanish proficiency levels. Testing will be administrated by a contracted testing service prior to completion of the employment process. Applicants must test at the proficient level to qualify. Subsequent to employment, Spanish proficiency levels are verified as part of the employees annual review. Testing is administered by a contracted testing service. Demonstrated ability to read and write in English and Spanish. The ability to relate to a diverse cultural and ethnic population.
