Job description
Are you ready for the most challenging and rewarding summer job you’ll ever have? We are looking for enthusiastic mentors to guide and inspire our summer campers. You will facilitate and participate in a wide variety of camp activities, ranging from hiking, fishing, canoeing, archery, fire building, and more! You will model camp’s values of teamwork, respect, enthusiasm, and kindness to help your campers become the best versions of themselves. All of these things will be completed while making amazing and life changing connections with your campers and fellow staff. Working at camp is more than just having fun. It’s a real job with fantastic transferrable skills like leadership, communication, collaboration, and conflict management. Our camp program runs from June 16th to August 9th with one week of staff training prior to the start of camp.
Responsibilities
- Teamwork: Work in a team with 2-3 other counselors to oversee the safety and wellbeing of a group of 15-24 campers, ranging in ages 5-16.
- Respect: Model appropriate behavior and address camper behavioral issues from a place of respect and understanding.
- Enthusiasm: Lead campers through games, explorations, and camp activities, while actively excitedly participating alongside them.
- Kindness: Model, recognize, and show gratitude for camper kindness to other campers, staff, facilities, and nature.
Skills
- Prior experience as Camp Counselor or similar role working with children
- Familiarity with camping and various outdoor activities
- Patient and reliable
- Organizational and communication skills
- A love for children
- An energetic and positive personality
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the job. Including, but not limited to, hiking, running, lifting, swimming, crouching, etc.
