What are the responsibilities and job description for the THERAPEUTIC BEHAVIORAL SUPPORT SPECIALIST position at Cedar Ridge Behavioral Health Solutions?

TBS position assists clients in achieving the identified goals or objectives as set forth in their treatment plan by developing and providing solution-focused interventions and emotional and behavioral management drawn from evidence-based psychotherapeutic treatments.

Qualifications: An individual in this position must be able to complete the above responsibilities on a daily basis. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and/or Experience

  • All TBS Specialists must be at least 21 years of age and must have completed high school or its equivalency
  • Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant (CDCA) certificate preferred but not required
  • An Associates degree in a social service field preferred but not required
  • Prior experience working with substance abuse and/or mental health individuals
  • Ability to work successfully in a team environment
  • High-quality written and verbal skills
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience as determined by Cedar Ridge is required unless a bachelor’s or master’s degree in social work, psychology, nursing or human service-related field has been acquired.

Job Schedule, Working Conditions, and Performance/Physical Requirements

  • Position is community based and services may be provided in various environments. CRBHS will provide office space where all/most required tasks can be completed. Position may require some services to be delivered in the home, school or community. Use of personal and/or company vehicle may also be necessary, at which point road conditions shall be considered.
  • Position is Monday-Friday 8am-5pm
  • Qualified applicants are required to complete a pre-employment screening process which includes a fingerprint background screening, and drug screen. Any employment offer is contingent upon receipt of all satisfactory pre-employment screenings.
  • Normal workplace hazards including interacting with offenders who have committed or been convicted of felony offenses.
  • Routine tasks may involve exposure to communicable diseases in the working environment.
  • Universal precautions shall be followed when applicable. Gloves are provided and are to be utilized for all urine drug screens administered.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide community-based TBS based upon client needs and abilities. Such interventions may include providing services in the home, school or work environment. ·
  • Participate in ongoing assessment and evaluation of clients’ psychosocial needs/barriers. This will also include collecting input from internal service providers if linked. ·
  • Treatment planning. Participating in and utilizing strengths-based treatments/planning which may include assisting the individual and family members or other collaterals with identifying strengths and needs.
  • Identification of strategies or treatment options. Assisting the individual and family members or other collaterals to identify strategies or treatment options associated with the individual's mental illness. ·
  • Developing and providing solution focused interventions and emotional and behavioral management drawn from evidence-based psychotherapeutic treatments. ·
  • Restoration of social skills. Rehabilitation and support with the restoration of social and interpersonal skills to increase community tenure, enhance personal relationships, establish support networks, increase community awareness, develop coping strategies, and promote effective functioning in the individual's social environment including home, work and school.
  • Demonstrates an ability to provide and maintain client confidentiality and safeguard protected health information (PHI) in accordance with agency policies and procedures.
  • Provides emergency medical treatment to clients, staff, or visitors as needed per CRBHS policy and procedure.
