What are the responsibilities and job description for the Choir Accompanist (Middle School and High School) position at Cedar Springs Public Schools?
Cedar Springs Public Schools are seeking qualified applicants for the position of Choir Accompanist for the 2024-2025 school year. We are excited to engage with quality candidates that are talented, friendly, and organized.
Qualifications
- Piano proficiency including the ability to sight read, play multiple part choral octavos; demonstrate musicality playing choral music accompaniment and at times improvise
Responsibilities
- Travel between the Middle School and High School buildings will be required (1 mile apart)
- The accompanist will be expected to play for all choir performances on the schedule for that year including:
- Fall, Winter, and/or Spring Concerts (evening)
- Other special assemblies - TBD (school day)
- Accompany choirs during daily rehearsals and at performances
- Run sectional rehearsals
- Lead warm ups in the absence of the teacher
- Rehearse with individuals or small group members for special performances
- Assist the teacher with daily routines including attendance, collection of forms or homework, grades, organizing and collecting music, making copies, etc
- Help set up, clean up, and organize the classroom daily for rehearsals

START DATE: 8/19/2024
SALARY RANGE: $22.26 - 24.32 per hour
WORK SCHEDULE: 5.6 hours per day, 7:25 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. with a 30-minute duty free lunch

We are located within the city limits of Cedar Springs, Michigan in Kent County. Cedar Springs Public Schools is one of 20 member public school districts within the Kent Intermediate School District (KISD).
