Job Title: Staff Accountant
Department: Finance
Reports to: Accounting Manager
GENERAL PURPOSE OF THIS JOB (Summary)
The Staff Accountant is expected to perform a variety of accounting and financial tasks daily. Staff Accountant responsibilities include keeping financial records updated, preparing reports, recording/posting accounting entries, building invoices, compiling invoice backup documentation, and accounts receivable reconciliations. You will run accounting software programs to process business transactions such as: invoices, deposits, credit memos, void/deletion entries and other accounting transactions. The Staff Accountant should be familiar with accounting standards and procedures. Ultimately, a successful Staff Accountant will ensure that the assigned daily accounting functions run accurately and effectively. The Staff Accountant will work closely with Accounts Receivable and other team members to ensure that all work-related duties are completed in a timely manner.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Functional Responsibilities
- Prepare invoice working files
- QA/QC invoice preparation & review, finalize & record invoices in JDE
- QA/QC monthly invoicing signature approvals
- Indexing backup documents into database, support invoicing backup retrieval
- Record and post AR deposit receipt
- Record journal entries as needed in JDE
- Conduct AR reconciliations
- Prepare and issue ad hoc reports
- Assist in monthly close processes, preparing journal entries, performing account analysis and reconciliations.
- Provide support during quarterly and annual audits
- Other applicable duties that may arise within the accounting department
Health & Safety
- Work in compliance with all Health and Safety rules and regulations for Cementation
- Incorporate Health and Safety considerations in all functions and daily activities of the position
- Monitor work environment for health and safety hazards or infractions and reports the same to Health and Safety Department
- Keep work area clean and free of clutter
- Use proper equipment for the job
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
- 2 years college education in accounting, finance, or related field
- At least 3 years related work experience
- Equivalent combination of education and work experience
- Prior experience in billing or accounts receivable
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Knowledge of JD Edwards or other Oracle based Accounting System helpful but not required
