What are the responsibilities and job description for the Volunteer Coach position at Centennial BOCES Consortium?
A school volunteer is defined as a non-paid person who works on an occasional or regular basis at school sites or other educational facilities. Volunteers may include parents, senior citizens, students and other members of the community. In order to protect our students, volunteers must complete the application packet.
• A school visitor is defined as a person who wishes to observe a class or special activity and will not be directly involved with the students. Visitors shall be required to report to the main office and obtain a “visitors” name badge upon arrival at school. Visits for any purpose require permission in advance from the building principal in order to allow teachers the opportunity to arrange their schedules.
Information and Instruction (volunteers)
1. Volunteers are asked to support the District’s instructional programs and extracurricular activities.
2. The need for volunteer services will be determined by the principal in cooperation with the faculty. The principal makes final decision concerning selection, placement and replacement.
3. An accurate and current list of active volunteers shall be maintained in conjunction with the substitute teacher’s list.
4. The principal and faculty shall evaluate the volunteers program, providing opportunities for volunteers to submit suggestions. Volunteers who have proven unsatisfactory will be asked by the Superintendent designee to discontinue services.
Information and Instruction (visitors)
1. Visitors report to the office stating intended business and is either granted or denied permission.
2. Visitors are expected to comply with all rules and regulations set forth by the district. 3. If visitation permission is denied or discontinued, the visitor will be given an explanation of the reasons and escorted to the door for their departure. If the visitor refuses to leave, legal authorities will be notified.
