POSITION SUMMARY
Performs a variety of duties in accordance with standard accounting procedures in the assigned area(s) of accounts payable, payroll, accounts receivable or general accounting. Completes advanced and specialized accounting assignments, as needed. Obtains and analyzes financial information to prepare reports, statements and recommendations. Provides leadership and direction to other accounting clerks.
Performs duties with minimal supervision and guidance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Prepares and enters vouchers into the accounting system.
2. Creates and maintains documents in electronic formats for processing and storage purposes.
3. Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, documenting business transactions.
4. Distributes expenditures, encumbrances, receipts, and receivables according to assigned schedules.
5. Prepares bank reconciliations, fixed asset records, and audit schedules within area(s) of assigned responsibility.
6. Reconciles information to the general ledger, as assigned.
7. Prepares reports summarizing Center's business activities.
8. Provides assistance within the Finance Department to other financial positions, as needed.
9. Prepares reports required by regulatory agencies, as assigned.
10. Establishes and maintains effective, collaborative working relationships with Center employees and outside agencies with which the Center is involved.
11. Completes statistical reports and special projects as required.
12. Maintains sufficient knowledge of accounting practices to complete duties efficiently.
13. Maintains and follows written procedures for each task or responsibility and updates procedures as necessary.
14. Performs other job duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree (BA) from a four-year college or university in accounting, business administration or a related field or evidence of equivalent combination of education and experience.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum of two years working experience in a business office setting. Experience using Microsoft products. Demonstrates mastery of progressively more complex tasks. Demonstrates skill level in field working independently with minimal supervision.
ABILITIES, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS
Advanced knowledge of accounting and business practices. Excellent computer skills with demonstrated proficiency in spreadsheet, database, and word processing software. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to prepare information using original or innovative techniques or style. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.89 - $23.26 per hour
