Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate, highly organized, and community-oriented Community Engagement Lead to expand our public presence, foster community connections, and coordinate meaningful outreach efforts throughout the year. This part-time, hourly role (10–15 hours/week) is an independent contractor position ideal for someone who thrives in dynamic environments and is deeply committed to social justice and farmworker rights.
Key Responsibilities
Community Events & Outreach
- Coordinate and serve as an ambassador for CFF at local community events, markets, and fairs
- Create, update, and transport tabling materials and displays
- Recruit and coordinate volunteers to assist with outreach efforts
- Collaborate with other contractors and volunteers
- Partner with other community-based organizations
Holiday Gift Drive
- Lead planning and execution of CFF’s annual Christmas gift drive, including outreach, donor coordination, gift collection, and distribution logistics
Monthly Distributions
- Assist with coordination and volunteer support at monthly food and supply distributions
Farmworker Reality Tours
- Support organization and facilitation of tours, including participant communication and on-the-ground assistance
- Receive and integrate community feedback
Campaign & Program Support
- Assist in coordination and promotion of campaigns throughout the year (e.g., fundraising, advocacy, awareness)
- Work with contractors and the Board of Directors to identify new outreach opportunities and strengthen community partnerships
Communication & Promotion
- Assist in creating promotional materials, social media content, and email outreach (in collaboration with contractors and Board of Directors)
Qualifications
- Strong commitment to the mission and values of the Center for Farmworker Families
- Experience in community organizing and outreach (highly preferred)
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Bilingual in English and Spanish required; trilingual in English, Spanish, and Mixteco highly desirable
- Ability to work some evenings and weekends as needed
- Reliable transportation and willingness to travel locally (Santa Cruz and Monterey Counties)
- Self-starter with strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Comfortable with light physical tasks (e.g., lifting supplies, setting up tables)
- Basic computer and tech skills (Google Suite; Canva or similar a plus)
Schedule & Hours
This is a part-time, hourly, independent contractor position averaging 10–15 hours/week, with fluctuations based on the time of year and event calendar. Some months may require additional hours depending on events, campaigns, and outreach needs.
