Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Medical Assistant located in Portland, OR. The Medical Assistant will be responsible for:
Rooming patients
- Collect vitals for each patient, including blood pressure, temperature, respiratory rate, O2 levels, and heart rate
- Update past medical and social histories and current medication lists in EMR
- Provide patients with appropriate pre-visit questionnaires, informed consent forms, and other pre-visit documents as requested by the provider
- Ability to draw blood, collect labs and administer vaccines is a plus
- Opportunity to learn resting EKGs
Administrative duties
- Schedule patient visits as needed, including new patients and follow up appointments according to the specifications of the provider
- Respond to patient inquiries related to the provider through Josi patient texting app
- Process and follow up on prior authorization requests for medications
- Assist with referrals and medication refills as needed
Other duties
- Keep all treatment rooms clean and stocked with appropriate medical supplies throughout the day
- Collect laundry as needed
- Replace sharps containers when full
- Sterilize clinic surfaces throughout the day, including door handles, using Cavi-Wip
Ideal Candidate
- Experience as a Medical Assistant or in a similar healthcare role
- Strong communication skills to interact with patients and healthcare professionals effectively
- Basic proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems is desirable; we use Athena
