Overview
Responsible for assisting direct patient care providers in the pre-initiation and post-termination of direct patient care duties. Accountable for maintaining compliance among both CDC’s policy and regulatory agencies. Maintain compliance with CDC personnel policies as outlined in the employee handbook.
Responsibilities
- Ability to learn and demonstrate competency in obtaining blood pressures, pulse, body temperatures, and body weight.
- Ability to convert weight from kilograms to pounds.
- Ability to learn and demonstrate competency in removing needles from patient access.
- Ability to learn and demonstrate competency in holding sites to stop bleeding and proper dressing of the needle site.
- Ability to learn and demonstrate competency in lifting and transporting patients to the patient care unit.
- Demonstrates effective oral and written communication with the patient care provider.
- Participate in patient education as directed.
- Attend staff meetings.
- Ability to perform opening and closing duties including, but not limited to, water treatment system assessment, dialysis equipment rinsing, removing non-functional equipment and replacing it with functional equipment, properly performing bicarbonate preparation, and, if applicable, proper rinsing and disinfection of the Solution Distribution System (SDS).
- Clean and disinfect equipment, cleaning duties of unit and utility areas, stock supplies and laundry carts, and prepare supplies.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Demonstrates good written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrates good organization skill
- Self-motivated and accountable for time management
- Ability to differentiate between various colors and degrees of shades
- Medically cleared to work with reprocessing chemicals and (if applicable) cleared to be fitted with a respiratory device
- Ability to lift and transport up to 50 pounds
